New Card Ranges Coming Soon {The Monday Post}

Hey Hey,

So I missed The Sunday Post yesterday so thought I'd creep in unnoticed and do the Monday post instead!

Last week I received my new card samples back from the printer, they are printed on gorgeous 350 GSM  linen textured board and what's even better they are SQUARE! I love square cards! One of the designs I got a sample of was the Lollipop Roses, it's wonderful to see it printed on such a fab quality card and in the new format.

I've also been busily stitching away on new designs too. A couple of new baby cards and also man card!

As I'm changing my designs I have reduced my current cards on Etsy the were £2.50 now £2 you can snap them up here.... https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/MayIDesign

Well that's all for now! Hope you had a good Sunday (cough, Monday!)

See you soon

{The Sunday Post} The Merchant's House

This is no ordinary Sunday post, this is a super exciting Sunday post!

I have my first bricks and mortar stockist (Yippee). The wonderful The Merchant's House in Marlborough is stocking my original stitch of the house, prints and coming soon a selection of cards and mini frames.

I have always loved the architecture in Marlborough and now to stock one of my faves is so exciting.

If you're in the area please pop in and take a look it's such a wonderful building so full of character and history and the shop has great gifts too!

Have a lovely bank holiday.
See you soon

The Sunday Post

Good afternoon,

I hope the sun is shining with you today. It is (mostly) here in Wiltshire.

As I worked over the Easter holiday I booked myself 4 cheeky days off this weekend and I'm having a hoot. I have visited some gorgeous places in the Cotswolds including Bibury, Burford and Chipping Sodbury they are all super quaint and literally my dream places!

I have become a bit obsessed with photographing my fave buildings and charming front doors. So much so I've started a separate Instagram account for all the pics you can find me here @_the_little_house_

It's also inspired some new design ideas which I'm spending today cracking on with and having a creative play day:

So watch this space for new designs coming soon.

I also took part in the March meet the maker challenge over on the May I Design Instagram you can catch up here:

Righty that's about it for now, Hopefully catch up with you next weekend.

See you soon

Happy Mother's Day

Good morning,

Happy Mother's day to all the Mums out there!

A year ago I gave this card to my Mum a stitch of the family home in Staffordshire. Mum loved it so much she showed it to family and friends and soon I got a couple of commissions to stitch their houses too.

Little did I know that this card would be the start of a my handmade business stitching house and venue portraits.

I would like to say a massive thank you to my Mum, she is not only my best friend but she has always believed in me and encouraged me to chase my dreams. She's an all round good egg!

Have a lovely Sunday everyone

A-Z Pattern Challenge 2016

Good morning,

Every now and again I like to set a little design challenge to get cracking on new work. Last year I did the Spring into Design challenge where I created a design a day for each day in March. You may recognise some of these as card designs in my Etsy shop:

A couple of years a go (before I got into textiles and embroidery) I did an A-Z Challenge. The below pic was taken from a potato print design:

H was for Houses

This year I've decided instead of doing a 'design a day challenge' to do another A-Z challenge and try to complete it during March/April(possibly even May!). I have created a completely random list of prompts that I hope will help spark some ideas:

If you would like to get involved too please do. You can use any medium you like, paint, pencil, digital, photography, collage, textiles the list goes on. I would like to experiment more with mixed media, but we'll see! If you are going to get involved please use the hashtag #AZchallenge just so we can all take a peep at the different designs being created!

Right I'm off to get cracking.

As I've been so quiet I thought I'd show you some work that I've been stitching recently. I am so lucky to get such wonderful commissions...

A gorgeous welsh cottage with fab red phone box in the front garden- how brill!

A picturesque home stitched as a Christmas present <3

This stitched cottage made the recipient cry, I'm assured they were happy tears!

An extraordinary wedding venue complete with red carpet!

A gorgeous bungalow with beautiful pink blossom tree!

Which is your favourite?

Happy New Year

Evening,

Happy New Year. I cannot believe another year has gone by! What's more I cannot believe I'm going to be 30 this year! Flippin' heck!

I thought I'd share with you my goals for the upcoming year. I had originally thought I would challenge myself to spend at least 30 minutes a day on May I design. Fitting it in when I could and around my full time job but making sure I spent a minimum of half an hour a day on it. But then I came across the 100 day challenge set by The Business bakery. Julia Bickerstaff has set a fab challenge of setting a specific goal and working on it for 100 days completing tasks as you go.
Julia has created a very handy workbook and work sheets to note down micro goals and a list of 100 steps that will get you closer to your achievement. Me being me, I'm slightly behind as I was back at work last week but I will get there! Today has been spent planning and choosing my 100 steps.

I'm super excited to see what opportunities arise this year and I hope to seize every single one!
