January Design: Mood board...

Hello,

Well we have successfully made it to the end of January's first full working week (WOO HOO Go us!)

I've just started thinking about what my first project of 2015 is going to be. On Friday night I treated myself to a selection of magazines to start getting inspired.

I love flicking through the pages they are like my version of a picture book! I especially like looking at the styling of the photography.

I tend to tear the pages out that I like the most and attach them to my craft room wall as my 'inspiration wall' with little notes about why I like each image.

So this brings me to what my subject will be for this months challenge. I've decided on 'Houses'. This is a motif that I keep returning to. Back in July 2013 I used Potato printing with a house motif for my A-Z Challenge

I loved the imperfect lines and the 'rickerty' quality. I wanted to develop this motif further, so I started on my mood board and this is what I have come up with.

I have used some of my own artwork with images that I have seen in magazines and torn out. The bottom left hand picture is a row of houses that I pass on my way to work, I love the higgledy piggledy nature of them and the charm they have.

So that is where I'm up to. I now need to get cracking with sketching motifs.

Hope you have a lovely Sunday,
see you soon

2015 Goals

Hello,

Happy Tuesday, hope your week is going well so far. It's my first working week after the Christmas break and as I mentioned in my last post I've started a new job too so super tired already. But it's going well so far.

I have promised myself not to let my blog or 'May I Design' fade off into the background again, so I've been busily trying to set myself some goals for the coming year. I've looked back through my blog posts over the last few years and I feel a bit sad that I haven't full on committed myself to my dream of designing for a living, so this year I'm really going to push myself.

I've decided on a challenge. To create and produce a new design each month. So from the very early stages of doing a inspiration board, to designing and printing my fabric to producing a styled end photograph. Towards the end of last year I started looking at Pinterest, at the beautifully styled photographs and mood boards and felt really inspired,  you can take a peep at my boards here

I think this will really challenge me and also get me seriously thinking about my designs and what products I'd like to see my prints on.

I will also be doing my 'May I Do Business' posts as and when I reach new milestones and make new discoveries.

All in all I'm super excited about what 2015 will mean for both me and May I Design. It's time to stop making excuses now and really crack on.

Ooops I didn't mean for this to be such a long post, sorry!

See you soon,

HAPPY NEW YEAR...

Well hello there 2015, how you doin'?

Hope you have all had a magical Christmas and 2015 is treating you well so far. I've finally shaken the lurgy off  that I suffered with over Christmas and ready to start thinking about what I would like to achieve both personally and with May I Design this coming year.

I'm just beginning to note down my plans and aspirations so once I've finalized my ideas I'll do a blog post about it in the coming weeks.

I start a new job on Monday (EEEK!) so that'll take a bit of time to settle into. But, I hope it wont stop me moving forward with May I Design as I liked the progress and direction I was heading in, at the end of 2014.

Have you made any business or personal resolutions yet? I'd love to hear from you.

See you soon
